Ron and Doris say,
We thank God for health and strength to be able to return to Ghana in our retirement years to help where we have been invited and are needed. It has been a great privilege to work along side some of the men we have previously trained. "Brethren, Pray for us." Ron and Doris Rife and their three children, Greg, Pam, and Bryan first arrived in Ghana in October, 1967. Ghana Christian College was one year old. Ron became principle at that time. Ron had graduated from Minnesota Bible College and had been a teacher and principle for nine years. Doris was an RN and had worked in hospitals. In Ghana, she was a full time wife and mother. From 1967 until 1974 Ron led in the development of the College from its embryo stage until it was well established as a bible college. This meant developing a philosophy for the College and the curriculum for the programs of study, and also finding land and building a campus for the new school. In 1974 the Rifes returned to America. Ron became the Co-minister of the Ellettsville, (IN) Christian Church while he completed his doctorate at Indiana University. In 1977 the moved to Dallas, Texas where Ron was Academic Dean of Dallas Christian College and Doris worked in the library. In 1984 Ron resumed work in public schools, becoming an administrator in the Dallas Public Schools. He took early retirement in 1996 so that he and Doris could return to Ghana to help develop Ghana Christian College for its role in training African Christian leaders into the next millennium. One of Ron's responsibilities will be fund raising for the new campus. We can build a campus for 300 students for slightly over 1 million dollars. Growth is presently stalled because of lack of space. We will build as funds become available. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! We want to express special appreciation to two of the churches involved in our work in Ghana. The First Christian Church of Hessville, Hammond, Indiana, Ron's home church, has actively supported this work for over 30 years. Valley View Christian Church of Dallas, our home church for the last 19 years, is also active in this work. Thanks to many other churches and individuals who also help make this work possible.
